Denzel Washington's latest vehicle sped away with the box-office win on Friday. The train-bound thriller, "Unstoppable," which revolves around a locomotive careening down the tracks with dangerous cargo in tow, and also stars rising screen regular Chris Pine, arrived in theaters with $8.1 million.

The animated superhero flick "Megamind" spent its second Friday in theaters in the top five. Featuring voiceover performances from funny A-listers Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill, the movie took second place, scoring $7.8 million. Friday's figure kicks the movie's total estimated haul to just under $68 million.

The road-trip romp "Due Date" continued to drive moviegoers into seats, snagging third place at the Friday box office. Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr.'s pairing as polar-opposite passengers on a kooky, cross-country voyage snapped up $5.5 million. The number bumps the movie's total estimated tally to just over $49 million.

The extraterrestrial thriller "Skyline" debuted in fourth place. The sci-fi flick about the planet's heart-stopping confrontation with aliens who descend from the sky racked up $4.7 million during its first Friday on screens. The movie features performances from Eric Balfour, Scotty Thompson and Donald Faison, who star as pals in Los Angeles grappling with the invasion.

"Morning Glory," the Rachel McAdams-starring rom-com about an ambitious, young news producer tasked with turning around an ailing morning show, rounded out the top five. The movie, which opened Wednesday and boasts performances from screen veterans Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton, picked up $3 million. The film has scored around $5.7 million since its mid-week debut.
